Pinched nerves can't be seen but can surely be felt. A pinched nerve results when the opening from which they leave the spinal
column (bottom right illustration) is narrowed enough to cause pressure on the nerve. This can occur when the vertebrae become
misaligned, twisted or otherwise malpositioned.
Pinched nerves in the neck can cause various patterns of pain, numbness
or tingling or weakness in the shoulders, arms, hands or fingers. The top right illustration shows one of those patterns.
The top left illustration shows Sciatic nerve irritation, normally caused by pinched or irritated nerves in the lower back or Sacrum
(tailbone).
Some other causes of narrowing can be osteoarthritis or spurring, herniation, thinning of discs or bulging discs (bottom
left illustration).
